Loose Threads: Issue #1

Where the pieces come together.

Welcome!

Welcome to the first issue of Loose Threads, the Foundation for Petaluma Public Waldorf newsletter. This is your inside look at how the Foundation weaves support for every child, every class, and every teacher at Valley Vista Public Waldorf School.

Here you’ll find behind-the-scenes updates, transparency about the funds we raise (and how they’re spent), and invitations to join us in the joyful (sometimes messy, always meaningful) work of child-centered, school-led, community-held public Waldorf education.

So far this fall, we’ve had popsicle days that turned pickup into a sticky-fingered joy-fest, coffee connection mornings that kept parents fueled and chatting, and even a first-ever collab with TechWise (and many more to come).

These little things stitch our community together, and that same spirit carried into our first big campaign of the year…

School Supply Campaign Update

This year, every student at Valley Vista walked into class with everything they need - no long shopping lists, no stress. Just kids ready to learn! 🙌

Thanks to this community, the Foundation raised $4,029.55 from 67 families to stock every classroom with essentials: sharpened pencils, fresh main lesson books, high-quality watercolors, and teachers who don’t have to dig into their own wallets.

We’re aiming for 100% family participation because every gift, big or small, says: we’re in this together. Haven’t joined in yet? No worries, there’s still time!

Next Up: Jog-A-Thon!

As autumn settles in and our classrooms find their rhythm, we look forward to one of the brightest traditions of the year: the Jog-A-Thon on October 24th.

Picture it: crisp fall air, kids running with determination (and plenty of giggles), parents cheering like it’s the World Cup, and every lap bringing us closer to sustaining the full public Waldorf experience.

Here’s what’s coming your way:

  • Pledge links to share with family & friends

  • Volunteer sign-ups (we need cheerleaders, lap counters, snack heroes

  • Event details so you can join us on the field

Mark your calendar, and keep your eyes peeled for updates, coming soon!

Help us hit 100% participation!

Spring Auction: Help Envision the Magic!

The Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year is coming this spring — a joyful night of dinner, dancing, live and silent auction, and community spirit. We need your creativity and energy to make it unforgettable!

Do you love party planning?

Are logistics your thing?

Do you enjoy making decorations?

Do you have connections to generous local businesses?

Are you a generous local business?

Or do you just want to join a fun, welcoming team of parents?
